学位服 cap and gown
学位服（academic dress/ costume）一般就称为cap /k?p/ and gown /ga?n/，即学位帽和学位袍 。
其实学位服还有个部分叫hood（兜帽，坎肩），就是披在背后的那个垂布 。
学位帽最常用的叫法是cap，又叫square academic cap，graduate cap 。
不过，“学位帽”还有个有趣的说法：“托泥板”，mortarboard /\\\'m?:t?b?:d/ 。
好吧，确实有点像……
毕业典礼 commencement/ graduation ceremony
英式英语里，毕业典礼一般叫graduation ceremony，毕业那天则是graduation day 。
而在美国，毕业典礼则通常被称作commencement ceremony，毕业那天除了叫graduation day，也可以叫commencement day 。

拨穗 turning of the tassel
cap上那个穗穗就叫tassel /\\\'t?s(?)l/，流苏。
通常是校长或系主任，会为每个degree candidate（学位候选人）turn the tassel（拨穗），象征着transition from candidate to graduate 。
正确的拨穗姿势，是从右到左，所以上台接受拨穗礼之前，记得把穗穗先拨到右边 。
