be able to、can同may的区别较明显，前者是可以，后者是可能 。be able to同can的区分就不那么简单了 。二者最主要的区别是时态上 。如果的填充题，就要看一句句子是否有动词的问题 。具体解释如下：一般强调将来语态时，只能用be able to.如will be able to do that?如果说can you do that?就没有强调将来语态的意思了 。另外，如果是填空题，When will you ......... come and see us in our new house? (a) can (b) be able to (c) must Correct answer: (b) be able to 请看网上一位教授的解释：When will you can come and see us in our new house? The auxiliary “can” is a so called defective verb because there is no infinitive form and no past participle. This means that you have to use other words to replace these missing parts. You use the infinitive after will and so you use the alternative form be able, which acts as the substitute.
